We enter the Ingathering 2019 season with the frightening pictures of the devastation in two islands of the Bahamas caused by Hurricane Dorian imprinted on our minds. As I write I am acutely conscious of the catastrophe that could have been ours in Jamaica. All of us in the Caribbean are so very vulnerable.
We thank God that we have been spared this far into the hurricane season this year, and we continue to pray and do all we can to assist our sister nation in this time of greatest need.
The funds we collect during the Ingathering outreach assist numerous persons and communities in Jamaica in times of disaster. They also assist the needy in our everyday community service and welfare projects, such as, education, health, shelter and food.
