Jamaica Union Session Postponed

The Third (Second Quinquennial) Session to elect a new administration for the 2020-2025 Quinquennium of the Jamaica Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (JAMU) has been postponed.

The postponement was voted by members of the Executive Committee of the Union during a meeting held at its headquarters in Mandeville, Manchester on July 15, 2020.

The Session, which was originally slated for December 1-2, 2020 will now be held from December 6-7, 2021.

The administration of the Inter-American Division recommended the postponement, which is not only for Jamaica Union Conference, but also for activities of large meetings  in the territory, in particular the Sessions (quadrennial and quinquennial) of unions and local fields scheduled for the months of July to December 2020.

The move by the IAD follows the vote by the Executive Committee of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (EXCOM) on March 19, 2020 to postpone the 2020 General Conference Session until May 2021. The vote comes after a March 17 recommendation from the General Conference Administrative Committee (ADCOM) to delay the 2020 General Conference Session (GC Session) by up to two years due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2021 General Conference Session will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is currently scheduled from May 20 to May 25. It was originally scheduled from June 25 to July 4, 2020.
