On the afternoon of Sabbath, March 19, 2016, scores of people of all ages left the Seventh-day Adventist Church at New Haven in St. Andrew, Jamaica for the St. Joseph Hospital to minister to the individuals there, as a practical demonstration of the Global Youth Day theme, “Be The Sermon.”
Members of the group met with patients and staff in a designated section of the hospital and offered words of comfort and hope through scripture reading, songs and prayers.
Leader of the youth department, Winsome Coley-Campbell, was quite pleased with the support of the programme. “This is our third year visiting and sharing with the patients and staff of this hospital and this is the largest group of participants since we started,” Campbell said. As a result of the enthusiastic reception given to the group she suggested, “We will seek to revisit the hospital before the next Global Youth Day; at least once each quarter.”
