The Mount Salem Seventh-day Adventist Church in collaboration with the Mount Salem Primary and Junior High School, conducted a massive health fair on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the Mount Salem Playfield as part of both entities’ 50th Anniversary Celebrations.
“It was a Fifty-Fifty Affair,” said Erica Barnett, the Mount Salem Seventh-day Adventist Church’s events coordinator. “These two entities collaborated as a means of giving back to the community, of which both Church and school share” she added.
The health fair, which is a part of a year-long line-up of celebratory activities spearheaded by the Mount Salem Church, provided a vast array of medical, Government and community services aid to the citizens.
Councillor for the Mount Salem Division, Kerry Thomas, was also on location and was happy for the relief that it brought to his constituents. “Having all of the agencies coming out and supporting the health fair shows that, our country is still alive and well” noted the pleased Local Government Representative. “Our community appreciates this, and it says that we can work together for the greater good of the people.”
There were over twenty medical professionals, including doctors, nursing practitioners and mental health professionals on hand to render assistance to members of the community, along with the representatives of other government and private agencies. These agencies included the Registrar General’s Department, the National Health Fund, Jamaica Moves, the Tax Administration of Jamaica and the Heart Foundation of Jamaica.
