ADVENTIST YOUTH MINISTRY IN JAMAICA LAUNCHES COUNSELING HELPLINE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Young people in Central Jamaica Conference (CJC) of Seventh-day Adventists and its environs now have access to confidential counseling which may be accessed at their leisure, thanks to a special telephone counseling service dubbed, “OSAY (Operation Save a Youth) Helpline”.
This service was launched by the Youth Ministries Department of CJC in collaboration with the Volunteer Counsellors Association, on Sabbath, May 28, 2016 during the South Clarendon Zone Convention which was held at the Lionel Town Church.
The purpose of the counseling service is to :-

  • offer professional, confidential and Christian counseling services to Adventist and non-Adventist youth who may be deemed as vulnerable by way of phone calls and/or interpersonal contact.
  • assist the youth in handling issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, bereavement, sexual temptations, relationships, work related issues, parental problems, sexual abuse (past or present), anger management, addiction, rape, peer pressure, conflict resolution, etc.
  • help our young people to identify ways of finding their own solutions to problems.
  • empower young people to live a Christ-centered life amidst the various challenges that they experience.
  • help youth to rise above the odds and reach for excellence.
  • reposition youth at the center of the Church’s life and mission.
