Just over sixty communicators from thirty churches across East Jamaica Conference (EJC) participated in the third Communication Retreat for the quadrennium at the Conference’s Golden Acres property in St. Andrew during the period April 13 – 2018.
The Retreat was organized under the theme “God’s Tech Team: Emphasizing the Transformation”and was designed to impart information that would assist communicators to be more effective in carrying out their function in the communication department of their church.

Highlighting the important role that the communication department plays in the church, EJC President Dr. Eric Nathan said “the communication department is a very integral part of our church organization,” when he addressed the group on Sunday.
“I commend Elder Castell and his team and I know that the Conference is so much better off because the communication department has upgraded itself and is training others to carry out the mission of the church,” Nathan said.
Over the two days, five presentations were made to the group which consisted of mostly of young people below 30 years of age.
The “Content for the Millennial Christian” presentation by Ms. Kayon Vaz was the first to take place on Sabbath morning and served as a source of inspiration for communicators to create wholesome video content to make a positive impact on those who view our messages on social media or on TV.
Graphic Artist and Social Media Coordinator from the EJC Communication Team, Ms. Ruth-Ann Brown, shared valuable information with her presentation entitled “Exploring the Adventist Identity” which delved into the use and placement of the SDA church logo on websites and graphic artwork designs.
Fernandez Anderson from the Hagley Park SDA Church introduced the communicators to the new Easy Worship 7 software which is a powerful yet simple church presentation software which seamlessly incorporates text, hymns, scripture passages and videos to make sermon presentations more dynamic.
